Connecting Threads of Justice

Conectando hilos de justiicia

About us

The "Connecting Threads of Justice" project began as an outgrowth of the Women and Fair Trade Festival organized by Austin Tan Cerca de la Frontera (ATCF).  This organization facilitated the formation of a project called Conectando Hilos de la Justicia (Connecting Threads of Justice) bringing together two women’s collectives that participate in the Festival, to share marketing, technical skills and cultural ideas: Jolom Mayaetik in Chiapas, Mexico and Fuerza Unida in San Antonio, Texas, USA.

With an initial seed grant from the National Association of Latino Arts and Culture (NALAC), the project started in 2009.  Throughout these 10 years the organizations involved have developed annual workshops on textiles, medicinal herbs and women’s health in San Antonio, Texas and technical skills workshops in San Cristobal de las Casas, Chiapas, Mexico.
